Salary Dots

From Flowing Data, an interactive dotplot showing the distribution of annual salaries in various fields. Selections can be made for the 1960s (above), the 1980s, 2000s, and 2014. As a time range is selected, the dots representing the annual salaries of 50 randomly selected people, dynamically redistributed themselves to reflect the times salary frequency distribution. Compare the dramatic change in spread from 1960s above to the 2000s below.

Shouldn't the data be on a log scale rather than a linear one? Some of the spreading shown is just do to reduction in the value of the dollar, which would result in a shift without spreading on a log scale, making the actual spreading more visible.

Incidentally, I would prefer to sign in with my Wordpress account, rather than being forced to use my Google account—can you change the settings to allow a wider range of logins, or is blogger still a very crippled platform?
